Lithium Ion Battery Fire

RBVFC crews were called to Tower Rd. Bayside Beach Area on Friday July 27 for a Battery Explosion and Brush Fire. Arriving crews found that a Lithium Ion Battery Pad from a Boat had exploded and caught fire on the parking lot with no exposures or brush fire. First arriving DNREC Officers attempted to Extinguish with a Dry Chemical Extinguisher with little success. After talking with DNREC Officers it was determined to bury the small device in the Sand until a DNREC Clean up Crew arrived and disposed of the debris. Fire Units cleared in about 40 Minutes.
