Residential Sprinkler Save-Creekwood
Friday, August 26, 2022

The Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company responded to a fire alarm at the Creekwood Condominium complex off Coastal Hwy at 2am Friday morning August 27. Creekwood is one of several locations that RBVFC responded's to for Automatic Fire Alarms usually resulting in false alarms. This time the fire sprinkler system activated and extinguished a fire on a 3rd floor balcony just before it was about to make its way up the side of the building and possibly into the attic area. The residents were awakened by the alarms and evacuated the unit as did several other residents in the same building. The fire department was able to confirm that the fire was fully extinguished. This is the 2nd time in the Same Building that Residential Sprinkler's have prevented Major Damage and Possible Injuries. RBVFC Fire Chief Chuck Snyder said that the alarm and sprinkler system did its job and saved an enormous amount of damage and probably saved lives. The Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigating.
