Rescue 86-6 | 1988 Spartan Saulsbury Rescue

Designated as "Rescue" 86, 86-6 is a 1988 Spartan chassis paired with an 18' Saulsbury walk-in resuce body. Equipped with a 20kw 3 phase hydraulic generator, 2 reel Holmatro rescue tool system, A-frame winch, power cord reels, air powered rescue tools, 15 spare SCBA bottles, and other specialty rescue tools. Rescue 86 was placed in service in 1988 and was housed at Station 2 on Airport Rd. Designed to handle the high number of vehilce accidents occurring on the route 1 corridor in our fire district 86-6 was in service with the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company for 31 years until 2019 when it was replaced by the new Pierce Rescue-Engine. Rescue 86's service was not done however, after retiring from Rehoboth Beach it was provided to Cranston Heights Volunteer Fire Company in New Castle County Delaware as a temporary replacement Rescue while thier  Pierce Heavy Rescue Truck was repaired after complering its service in Cranston Heights it was relocated to the Townsend Volunteer Fire Company in New Castle County and re-designated as Spec. Ops 26 where it now serves as the State of Delaware Special Operations Dive Team Response Vehicle.  Rescue 86 has been in service throughout the State of Delaware for over 37 years. (2025)
